The Toronto Blue Jays have optioned lefty Brandon Eisert to triple-A Buffalo on Sunday, only hours after recalling the pitcher and sending down righty Bowden Francis.

The move likely paves the way for reliever Yimi Garcia to make his return as soon as the All-Star break is over on Friday.

Eisert was active for Sunday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks but was not used.

The 26-year-old has pitched in one game with the Blue Jays this season, making his major-league debut on June 17 during Toronto’s 7-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox. Eisert threw two innings of relief work giving up one hit and three walks.

He has a 5.17 ERA in 31.1 innings at triple-A this season.
