The Toronto Blue Jays have placed second baseman Cavan Biggio on the 10-day injured list due to mid-back tightness, the team announced Tuesday.
Outfielder Corey Dickerson was also activated from the 10-day IL (left foot contusion) and will make his Blue Jays debut batting sixth Tuesday night against Cleveland.
The 26-year-old Biggio has seven homers and 26 RBI this season and has struggled at the plate with a slash line of .215/.316/.350. He went 0 for 3 with a walk and a strikeout in Monday’s matinee against Cleveland.
Dickerson was acquired from the Miami Marlins on June 29 with pitcher Adam Cimber for infielder Joe Panik and minor-league pitcher Andrew McInvale. The 32-year-old Dickerson hit two home runs and drove in 14 runs for Miami this season, slashing .260/.321/.377. He was immediately placed on the IL with a left foot injury following the trade.
