Blue Jays prospect Orelvis Martinez named Player of the Week in triple-A

Toronto Blue Jays prospect and Buffalo Bisons infielder Orelvis Martinez was named Player of the Week in the triple-A International League.

Martinez hit home runs in three consecutive games in the past week, going nine for 25 at the plate for a .360 batting average and nine RBIs. The 21-year-old is now hitting. 300 in September with six walks.

Martinez is the No. 2 prospect in the Blue Jays system according to MLB Pipeline. He began the season at double-A New Hampshire before being promoted to the Bisons in late July. In 49 triple-A games, Martinez has 11 home runs and 24 RBIs while posting a .887 OPS.
