Blue Jays trade Otto Lopez to Giants for cash considerations

Blue Jays Central analyst Arden Zwelling joins Jays Talk Plus with Blake Murphy to discuss what an Otto Lopez promotion and Cavan Biggio demotion might do for the Jays offence, and whether it could spark anything with this struggling team.

The Toronto Blue Jays have traded Otto Lopez to the San Francisco Giants for cash considerations, the team announced Tuesday.

The utility player was designated for assignment by the Jays on Feb. 9. The Giants acquired him through trade instead of losing out on a waiver claim.

In 2022, Lopez appeared in eight games for the Jays and had six hits with three RBIs in nine at-bats.

The 25-year-old appeared in 84 games with triple-A Buffalo last season and had a .258 batting average with two home runs and 35 RBIs.
