Dodgers invite Kevin Pillar to camp on minor-league deal

Veteran outfielder Kevin Pillar is joining the Los Angeles Dodgers on a minor-league deal with an invitation to major-league spring training.

If he makes the team, he will earn a salary of $2.5 million this season, according to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman.

Pillar, 33, played all three outfield positions for the New York Mets last season, appearing in 124 games. He hit .231/.277/.415 with 15 home runs and 47 RBIs in 2021.

Pillar broke into the majors with the Toronto Blue Jays and was that team’s everyday centre fielder from 2015-18, including during two runs to the ALCS. The Blue Jays traded Pillar to the Giants at the start of the 2019 season and he has also spent time with the Red Sox and Rockies.
