The Washington Nationals have claimed right-handed pitcher Patrick Murphy off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays.

Murphy was Toronto’s No. 16-ranked prospect. The 26-year-old pitched in a total of 12 MLB games, including eight this season, and has posted a 3.52 career ERA. He posted a 1.00 ERA and 11 strikeouts per nine innings in Triple-A this season.

The Blue Jays designated Murphy for assignment on Aug. 11 after selecting pitcher Connor Overton to the Major League roster.
