Toronto Blue Jays infielder Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has reportedly been granted permission to play for Leones del Escogido of the Dominican Winter League, according to Yancen Pujols, a reporter based in the Dominican Republic.

Guerrero Jr., 21, was born in Montreal but spends much of his off-season in the Dominican Republic, where his father was born. Guerrero Jr. has played for Escogido once previously, slashing .211/.276/.278 in 26 games three winters ago.

During the 2020 MLB season, Guerrero Jr. posted a 115 OPS+ in 60 games, hitting nine home runs and recording 33 RBIs in that span.

Guerrero Jr. hopes to reclaim his spot at third base with the Blue Jays in 2021, as he stated in early November, though he was strictly a first baseman and designated hitter this past season.
