CF Montreal is adding some South American talent.
Alexis Sánchez, Chile's all-time leading goal scorer, is signing with Montreal's MLS squad as a designated player, according to The Athletic's Tom Bogert.
Chilean outlet El Deportivo LT was first to report the news.
Sánchez's professional career includes stops with Barcelona, Arsenal, Manchester United and Inter Milan.
He spent last season in La Liga with Sevilla, where he scored four goals in 28 games.
The 37-year-old has 128 appearances with the Chilean national team, scoring 51 times in that span. Both are national records.
Sánchez won league titles with Barcelona in 2013 and Inter Milan in 2021 and 2024. He also won two FA Cups with Arsenal in 2015 and 2017, and led Chile to two Copa America titles in 2015 and 2016.
CF Montreal currently sits second-last in the Eastern Conference with four wins, four draws and 10 losses in 18 games.
