Mexico's Hirving Lozano will be making his way to the MLS next season, soccer insider Fabrizio Romano reported Wednesday.
San Diego FC will be the American destination for the winger in 2025, reportedly inking a multi-year deal with the MLS club ahead of its debut season.
Lozano, 28, has appeared in 70 contests for the Mexican national team, scoring 18 goals over that span. Lozano’s most famous strike for his home nation came over European giants Germany in 2018 to seal a 1-0 victory in group play at the FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Since then, the right-footed talent has gone on to hoist league titles with southern Italian club Napoli in 2023, as well as Deutch side PSV Eindhoven in 2024.
His latest title saw Lozano find the back of the net six times across 24 competitions in the Eredivisie league, the Netherlands’ top flight. It is reported that Lozano will remain with the Dutch champs for the next six months before getting set to join the California club in January 2025.
San Diego has signed just three players since being officially announced as the league’s 29th club in May 2023, including goalkeeper Duran Ferree, midfielder Jeppe Tverskov and forward Marcus Ingvartsen.
The trio rounds out the new club’s latest additions with the latter pair coming overseas following respective stints with San Diego's partner club FC Nordsjælland this past season.
Lozano’s proposed salary is estimated to sit within the range of $7 million to $9 million, by far leading his new club and currently ranking within the top five most expensive players within the league.
