Toronto FC is reportedly adding some defensive experience to the midfield.
Toronto FC and Bundesliga club FC Heidenheim have a transfer agreement in place for defensive midfielder Niklas Dorsch, insider Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday.
The agreement includes a $4.3 million transfer fee and comes with a five-year contract for Dorsch. The clubs are still finalizing the documentation on the deal, per Romano.
Dorsch, 28, is a Lichtenfels, Germany, native who came up through the Bayern Munich ranks. He made his senior-level Bundesliga debut in the 2017-18 season, appearing in one game with Bayern. He joined Heidenheim the following year and also made stops with Belgian club Gent and Bundesliga club FC Augsburg before returning to Heidenheim in 2024-25.
He has appeared in 118 Bundesliga games and 209 total games over his senior-level career.
Toronto FC returns to game action Wednesday on the road against the New England Revolution. Toronto is 3-6-6 this season with a minus-seven goal differential.
