Toronto FC lost a key player in what could be a must-win game against CF Montreal on Saturday.
Goalkeeper Luka Gavran exited after a first-half collision with former TFC striker Prince Owusu.
Gavran received treatment and continued playing for several minutes before going down again and being substituted in the 23rd minute.
Veteran backup William Yarbrough came off the bench to make his Toronto FC debut.
Toronto entered the game in 13th place in the Eastern Conference with 29 points, four points out of the final playoff spot.
