Toronto FC could be getting a key player back in time for this weekend’s Canadian Classique.
Head coach Robin Fraser told reporters Wednesday there is a good chance midfielder Djordje Mihailovic will be available when TFC faces CF Montreal in a critical game on Saturday at BMO Field (1 p.m. ET).
Mihailovic has missed Toronto’s last four games with a hamstring injury.
The 27-year-old has been an important part of Toronto’s attack since joining the club from Colorado last season, and his potential return would provide a significant boost as TFC prepares for another important matchup against its Canadian rival.
With the regular season winding down, getting Mihailovic back on the field could give Toronto another creative option in the midfield and attack for the Montreal matchup.
Mihailovic has two goals and five assists in 12 games this season.
Prior to Colorado, he played for Montreal and Chicago.
Toronto FC enters the contest in 13th in the MLS Eastern Conference, four points back of the ninth and final playoff spot.
