Toronto FC announced Wednesday that midfielder Nelson Palacio will miss the remainder of the 2026 Major League Soccer season after undergoing surgery for a thigh injury.
The club says Palacio had the procedure on Tuesday.
Toronto acquired the 25-year-old Colombian on July 6 from Real Salt Lake US$1.1 million in cash, and up to $550,000 in conditional cash if performance metrics were met.
However, Palacio has yet to make an appearance for the club. TFC general manager Jason Hernandez told reporters last week that Palacio passed his physical after joining the club but has been dealing with a lingering injury.
Palacio completed a loan spell with FC Zurich before joining TFC, appearing in 32 games for the Swiss club.
Toronto returns to action Saturday at St. Louis.
