‘Cyborg’ earns first career submission win at Bellator 249

Cris “Cyborg” Justino picked up the first submission victory of her illustrious mixed martial arts career Thursday night in her first Bellator MMA title defence.

The Bellator women’s featherweight champion tapped Arlene Blencowe with a second-round rear-naked choke in the main event of Bellator 249.

It was Justino’s 23rd professional win overall. Eighteen of her previous wins were via knockout or TKO and four were by unanimous decision. Justino won the 145-pound title in January in her organizational debut against Canadian Julia Budd.

Meanwhile, Blencowe had a three-fight winning streak snapped. It was the first time she had been finished in more than five years.
