One of the best bantamweights in mixed martial arts is now a free agent.
Patchy Mix and the Professional Fighters League (PFL) have officially parted ways, the organization announced Wednesday night, leaving the fighter free to sign elsewhere.
The 31-year-old American is a former Bellator MMA 135-pound champion with a pro MMA record of 20-1.
PFL officials announced in a statement both the organization and Mix had “mutually agreed to not extend his contract” and that they wished the fighter “all the best in his future.”
Mix won an interim title with a highlight knockout of Raufeon Stots in 2023.
Later that year he submitted Sergio Pettis to unify the bantamweight title.
The Angola, N.Y., native also holds a notable victory over Kyoji Horiguchi, who recently rejoined the UFC, plus multiple wins over Magomed Magomedov.
Mix only defended his unified Bellator title once and has not fought in a full year. He had been one of the fighters to publicly express frustration in how PFL handled his matchmaking after the organization enveloped Bellator in 2023.
Two of Bellator’s most touted and well-known fighters, Patricio “Pitbull” Freire and Aaron Pico, also parted ways with PFL earlier this year and signed with the UFC.
It is unclear at this time whether Mix is considering joining the UFC or another organization, or if the UFC or any other promotions have shown interest in adding the skilled bantamweight.
