Turns out 'The Answer' couldn't stay away.
Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar is returning to sign with the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, Yahoo's Ariel Helwani reports.
The 43-year-old is expected to debut on Oct. 4 against Jimmie Rivera at Prudential Center in Newark, just north of his hometown of Toms River, N.J.
His last UFC fight came against Chris Gutierrez in November of 2022, where he dropped his third consecutive bout to move to a career 23-11-1 UFC record.
Edgar was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2024 after 17 years of fighting for the promotion. He sits third all-time in total octagon fight time with 7:57:10.
Edgar will face an experienced BKFC fighter in Rivera, who also held an impressive UFC record (23-5-0) and hails from the New Jersey area.
Rivera, 36, is heading into his sixth BKFC event and is 2-2-1 after losing his last tilt to featherweight champion Kai Stewart in November of 2024.
