Bellator MMA added some veteran star power to its roster Thursday by announcing it has signed Jon Fitch to a multi-fight contract.

Fitch (30–7–1 with one no-contest) has been competing in the Professional Fighters League, formerly know as World Series of Fighting, since 2013. He is riding a four-fight winning streak and won the promotion’s 170-pound title in April 2016.

“The addition of an elite fighter like Jon Fitch to our roster helps reiterate that we have the best welterweight division in MMA,” Bellator president Scott Coker said in a press release Thursday. “There are a number of high-profile matchups that we can make and I look forward to seeing what he can do inside the Bellator cage.”

The 40-year-old joins a Bellator welterweight roster that includes UFC alumni Rory MacDonald (the current champ), Paul Daley, Lorenz Larkin and former American Kickboxing Academy teammate Josh Koscheck, plus contenders Andrey Koreshkov, Douglas Lima and Michael Page.

Fitch holds notable victories over Thiago Alves, Diego Sanchez and Yushin Okami. He submitted Brian Foster with a side choke in June 2017 in his most recent bout.
