Demetrious Johnson continued his winning ways by improving to 2-0 in ONE Championship thanks to a Friday victory over Tatsumitsu Wada.

The former longtime UFC champion advanced to the finals of the promotion’s flyweight grand prix after picking up a three-round unanimous decision.

Johnson (29–3–1) used his superior wrestling, grappling and scrambling ability to get the win.

Johnson, who submitted Yuya Wakamatsu four months ago in his ONE debut, is now set to fight Danny Kingad later this year in the tournament final with a title shot on the line. Kingad beat Reece McLaren by split decision Friday to advance.

Adriano Moraes is the current ONE flyweight champion. He already holds a win over Kingad.

Friday’s ONE Championship: Dawn Of Heroes event, which was promoted as “the biggest martial arts event in Philippines history,” was headlined by a featherweight title fight in which Martin Nguyen TKO’d Koyomi Matsushima to become the new 145-pound champion.

Also on the card, former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez earned his first ONE victory.
