We’re about to see what A.J. McKee is really made of.
The rising featherweight star is set to face his toughest challenge to date in the form of former champion Pat Curran when the two meet in the main event of Bellator 205 on Sept. 21 at CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho.
The promotion made an official announcement Wednesday.

McKee is among the top prospects in all of mixed martial arts, regardless of weight class or promotion. The 23-year-old improved to 11-0 as a professional in April when he picked up a unanimous decision victory over Justin Lawrence at Bellator 197.
The entirety of McKee’s MMA career has taken place in the Bellator cage where the Long Beach, Calif., has already compiled quite the highlight reel.
Curran (23-7) is riding a three-fight winning streak that dates back to 2015. The 30-year-old is among the most talented fighters in the promotion’s history. Curran is 13-4 under the Bellator banner and has competed there since 2010.
The promotion also announced middleweights Rafael Lovato Jr. (8-0) and John Salter (15-3) are set to compete in the co-main event, a tilt that could possibly determine the next 185-pound title challenger.
