Iuri Alcantara put on a clinic against Brad Pickett in the featured preliminary bout at UFC 204 Saturday in Manchester, England.
Alcantara looked better than ever as he pursued Pickett relentlessly.
He landed a spinning elbow early in their bantamweight bout that dropped Pickett. Alcantara proceeded to batter his opponent with punches before locking in a triangle choke that forced a tap. The Brazilian has alternated wins and losses in his last four fights, while Pickett has lost four of his last five.
Welterweight Mike Perry made a statement in his promotional debut at UFC 202 in August when he finished Hyun Gyu Lim with strikes in the first round and he improved to 9-0 with a dramatic victory over Danny Roberts at UFC 204. Perry relied on his aggressive striking and iron chin as he often does.
With 20 seconds remaining in the third and final round Perry rocked Roberts with a knee and finished him with punches.
Also on the preliminary card, 23-year-old Marc Diakiese made a successful UFC debut with a TKO win over Lukasz Sajewski. Diakiese (10-0) is one of Europe’s top MMA prospects.
