Patricio “Pitbull” Freire made quick work of Pedro Carvalho in the main event of a stacked Bellator 252 card.
Freire defended his featherweight title with a first-round knockout of Carvalho, who was riding a six-fight winning streak.
Freire, who is also the organization’s reigning lightweight champion, is widely considered the greatest fighter in Bellator history.
Not only did Freire successfully defend his 145-pound belt for the sixth time in his career, but he also advanced to the semifinals of Bellator’s ongoing Featherweight Grand Prix.
He’ll next face Emmanuel Sanchez, who beat Daniel Weichel by unanimous decision two fights prior to Freire-Carvalho.
In the other featured main card bout, unbeaten welterweight standouts Yaroslav Amosov and Logan Storley went three entertaining rounds with Amosov emerging with a split decision win.
Amosov, 27, improved to 25-0 in mixed marital arts while Storley, 28, fell to 11-1.
I thank my opponent for this fight! Logan, you are a real warrior! Success in your career and happiness! @storleystorm
