Patricio “Pitbull” Freire retained his featherweight title over the weekend at Bellator 203 with a split decision victory over Daniel Weichel.
The bout was a rematch of a classic 2015 fight that Freire also won.
Bellator 203 took place in Rome, Italy where the main card featured six mixed martial arts contests while the preliminary card was exclusively Bellator Kickboxing matches.
Although the main event went the distance, the five other MMA bouts ended in the first round, including victories from former Bellator welterweight champion Andrey Koreshkov and veteran Italian middleweight Alessio Sakara.
