Some home-grown talent has been added to Toronto’s upcoming event as Elias Theodorou is set to fight fellow middleweight Eryk Anders at UFC 231.
Theodorou, a native of Mississauga, Ont., had originally been slated to face Antonio Carlos Junior at the event but the Brazilian was forced to withdraw due to an injury so Anders volunteered to step up.
The UFC announced the matchup Tuesday.

Theodorou (15-2) has won two in a row but hasn’t fought in the Greater Toronto Area since 2012 when he competed in the defunct Score Fighting Series prior to signing with the UFC.
Anders (11-2) is coming off a short-notice TKO loss to Thiago Santos in September. His only loss in the middleweight division was a controversial split decision he dropped to Lyoto Machida in February.
Santos was also added to UFC 231. He meets knockout artist Jimi Manuwa in a light-heavyweight contest.
Santos (19–6) has won six of seven, while Manuwa (17-4) is looking to snap the first two-fight skid of his MMA career.
The event takes place Dec. 8 at Scotiabank Arena. It will be headlined by a featherweight title fight between Max Holloway and Brian Ortega.
