Even though Cat Zingano has been out of action with a knee injury, the unbeaten 31-year-old will remain the top contender in the women’s bantamweight division, according to UFC president Dana White.

“She’s the No. 1 contender. Numero uno. When she’s healthy, she’ll be ready to go,” White told reporters earlier in the week.

Zingano defeated Miesha Tate in her UFC debut in April and earned a title shot and a spot opposite Ronda Rousey on The Ultimate Fighter 18, though a knee injury and subsequent surgery forced her out of that opportunity.

“She’s doing good. Hopefully she stays healthy and we can get her back by summer,” White added.

In addition to her win over Tate, Zingano (8-0) has defeated the likes of TUF 18 standout Raquel Pennington, Japanese great Takayo Hashi, veteran Carina Dammcurrent and Invicta FC flyweight champion Barb Honchak.
