Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva got into a fight on the set of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil, according to UFC president Dana White.
“Wanderlei and Chael fought. Just today. They literally fought,” White told reporters at a luncheon in Los Angeles Monday.
It’s unclear at this time exactly how the altercation started, but White said things were very intense and one of Silva’s assistant coaches got involved and sucker punched Sonnen before both sides were separated.
“They went crazy,” White said. “Crazy [expletive] happened there. We’re dealing with that right now.”
A rivalry between Sonnen and Silva has been brewing for years, which is one reason why fans have looked forward to the upcoming season of TUF Brazil.
“It’s one of those things, it’s on a reality show, it’s good and it’s bad. A fight didn’t need to break out between these two for people to be excited about this fight, because these two have been at each other’s throats,” White added.
TUF Brazil: Team Sonnen vs Team Wanderlei is set to debut March 9 in North America exclusively on UFC Fight Pass, the organization’s new digital subscription service.
Sonnen and Silva will fight one another in 2014 though no date or location have been announced for their matchup.
