A collision of popular middleweights will headline the UFC’s return to Macau, as Cung Le vs Michael Bisping was named the main event for an Aug. 23 event.
UFC president Dana White made the announcement following the UFC 173 post-fight press conference Saturday in Las Vegas.

Le (9-2) hasn’t fought since a massive knockout win over Rich Franklin in November 2012 at the first UFC event in Macau. The former Strikeforce middleweight champion also holds notable victories over Patrick Cote, Scott Smith and Frank Shamrock. At age 42, Le is the second oldest fighter currently on the UFC roster; only Dan Henderson, 43, is older.
Bisping (24-6) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Tim Kennedy in Quebec City on April 16. The 35-year-old Englishman has gone 2-3 in his last five UFC bouts, beating Brian Stann and Alan Belcher but coming up short against Kennedy, Vitor Belfort and Chael Sonnen.
A welterweight tilt between Hector Lombard and Dong Hyun Kim was named the co-main event for the show that will take place at the CotaiArena. No other bouts have been added to the card at this time.
