Canadian Sarah Kaufman finally has her next UFC opponent. The Victoria, B.C., native will fight Shayna Baszler at the TUF Nations Finale in Quebec City April 16.
Kaufman (16-2, 1 NC) hasn’t fought since her promotional debut in October at UFC 166. She lost a controversial split decision to Jessica Eye, which was recently changed to a no contest by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation due to a failed drug test from Eye.
The 28-year-old is a former Stirkeforce champion that already holds a win over Baszler. The two women fought at a Stirkeforce Challengers event in June 2009 with Kaufman winning a unanimous decision. Kaufman also has wins over current UFC contenders Miesha Tate, Liz Carmouche and countrywoman Alexis Davis.
Baszler (15-8) is coming off a stint on TUF 18 where she was submitted by eventual winner Julianna Pena in the quarterfinals.
It’s unknown at this time whether the Kaufman-Baszler matchup will be on the main card or prelims, but here are the other matchups currently scheduled for the first Canadian UFC event of 2014.
