The Ultimate Fighter 17 finale weigh-ins went down without a hitch Friday as all 24 fighters scheduled to compete on the card made weight.
Uriah Hall and Kelvin Gastelum are all set to battle it out for the TUF 17 championship as both seemed in good spirits Friday. Hall weighed 185 pounds on the dot and Gastelum came in at 186 for their co-main event middleweight matchup.
Hall made a name for himself on the show with several highlight-reel knockouts, while Gastelum, 21, is looking to become the youngest TUF champ in UFC history. Hall is heavily favoured in this bout, but Gastelum has played spoiler all throughout the show.
Bantamweight contenders Urijah Faber and Scott Jorgensen are ready for their main event tilt, as the two registered at 136 and 135.5 pounds, respectively.
Fans can watch two hours of live TUF 17 finale prelims Saturday on Sportsnet ONE starting at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT and catch the main card at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT first on FX Canada then later Saturday night on Sportsnet. Also, bonus early prelims will be streamed on sportsnet.ca starting at 5:30 p.m. ET / 2:30 p.m. PT
Another featured bout that has many fans excited is Miesha Tate vs. Cat Zingano, which is the second female fight in UFC history. The two bantamweights engaged in a heated staredown.
The winner of this bout earns a coaching spot opposite Ronda Rousey on season 18 of TUF and will then go on to challenge Rousey for her UFC women’s bantamweight title at a UFC event later this year.
Including the TUF 17 finalists, the event features 11 of the 14 contestants on the show. The only cast members not on the finale card are Tor Troeng, Adam Cella (who fought one another at last weekend’s UFC on FUEL card in Sweden) and Zak Cummings.
