Popular featherweight Leonard Garcia has been released by the Ultimate Fighting Championship following his fifth consecutive loss in the UFC.

Garcia (15-11-1) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to The Ultimate Fighter season 12 cast member Cody McKenzie at UFC 159.

In his last 12 bouts, dating back to his time in the defunct World Extreme Cagefighting, Garcia is 3-8-1 and all his three of his wins during that time came by controversial split decision.

Another former WEC veteran, Bart Palaszewski, was cut after a third straight loss – a first-round submission loss to Cole Miller at the TUF 17 finale.

TUF Live veterans Justin Lawrence and Sam Sicilia were released after their recent losses to Daniel Pineda and Maximo Blanco, respectively.

Kurt Holobaugh was let go, despite losing an exciting three-round war against Steven Siler at UFC 159.

Also, bantamweights Reuben Duran and Issei Tamura were cut following losses at UFC 158 in Montreal in March. Duran lost a decision to George Roop, while Tamura was knocked out by T.J. Dillashaw.
