The UFC has released bantamweight Ivan Menjivar.

Menjivar, a member of Montreal’s Tristar Gym, has lost four of his last five bouts, including three straight to Hatsu Hioki, Wilson Reis and Urijah Faber.

“I will be feeling out offers and discussing with Ivan and his head coach Firas Zahabi and doing whatever works best for him,” Menjivar’s manager, Mitch Mayberger, told MMAFighting, which first reported the news Friday. “He is a gem of a human being and been a pleasure to work with so I will always be by his side to help accomplish any goals he has. Love the guy.”

Menjivar (25-12) went 4-4 during his time in the UFC with wins over Charlie Valencia, Nick Pace, John Albert and Azamat Gashimov. His wins over Albert and Gashimov earned the 31-year-old Submission of the Night bonuses.

The Salvadoran-Canadian was famously Georges St-Pierre’s first opponent back in 2002.
