UFC world goes wild over Dillashaw’s upset win

TJ Dillashaw was considered the underdog against Renan Barao but took control of the fight and got the bantamweight belt.

T.J. Dillashaw set out to shock the world at UFC 173 and that’s exactly what he did.

Dillashaw dominated Renan Barao en route to finishing him in the fifth round in what was arguably the biggest upset in a UFC title since Matt Serra finished Georges St-Pierre at UFC 69 back in 2007.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan said repeatedly it was the best performance he has ever seen in UFC history.

Dillashaw’s team, Team Alpha Male, was notorious for being one of the best fight camps in MMA, but had always lost in UFC title fights. Prior to Saturday’s event in Las Vegas, the team had gone a combined 0-6 in title fights with Urijah Faber, Joseph Benavidez and Chad Mendes all coming up short in the past.

Not Dillashaw. Not at UFC 173.

It wasn’t just Dillashaw’s teammates that were blown away by his performance either.
