Georges St-Pierre beat Johny Hendricks by split-decision at UFC 167 on Saturday night but some believe he should’ve been named victor much earlier.

Close to 20 seconds into the fight it appeared that Hendricks made a tapping motion in response to a hold that St-Pierre had him in.

Many took to twitter during and after the fight to make the case for a tapout victory for St-Pierre, including eight-year NHL veteran and Guillaume Latendresse who played 27 games for the Ottawa Senators last season and is currently playing for the ZSC Lions in Switzerland’s top league.

On the other hand, a number of MMA experts who looked over the play again believe it’s preposterous to think that Hendricks was tapping out at that moment, including Sportsnet’s own Mike Johnston.
