If you didn’t know who Gregor Gillespie was before UFC 210, you probably do now.
Gillespie earned one of the best knockout wins of the year so far when he put away Andrew Holbrook in just 21 seconds in a featured preliminary bout Saturday in Buffalo, N.Y.
It was the first clean knockout victory of Gillespie’s career, which is hard to believe considering how tight his striking looked. Gillespie landed a crisp one-two combination, kept a high guard and caught Holbrook with a perfect left hook.
“We’ve been working a ton on my striking and boy it showed off tonight,” Gillespie told Joe Rogan in an entertaining post-fight interview before making the bold statement that he is the “best fisherman in MMA.”
Gillespie really isn’t kidding about his love of fishing.
He was more than happy to keep talking about it backstage as well.
So, he’s good at fishing and clearly he’s not too bad at this fighting thing either.
Gillespie improved to 9-0 as a professional and a legitimate prospect in the lightweight division.
