Bilesky upsets Pierce to win B.C. title

Andrew Bilesky upset Brent Pierce with a 7-4 win in the final to capture his first career Canadian Direct Insurance B.C. Men’s Provincial Championship on Sunday in Parksville, B.C.

Bilesky will now represent British Columbia in the 2013 Tim Hortons Brier next month at Rexall Place in Edmonton.

The all-New Westminster, B.C., rink final saw Bilesky jump out to a 3-0 start with steals of one in the second and two in the third after Pierce blanked the opening end.

Pierce got on the board with a single in the fourth before Bilesky replied with one in the fifth and another steal in the sixth to hold a 5-1 lead.

But Pierce closed the gap to 5-3 with a deuce in the seventh. Both teams then added single points with the hammer and Bilesky earned one more to close out the match.
