ARE, Sweden — France’s Sandrine Aubert won the last women’s World Cup slalom of the season Friday, edging runner-up Fanny Chmelar of Germany by 0.06 seconds.
Aubert had a two-run total time of one minute 49.23 seconds on the Gastrappet course.
It was Aubert’s second consecutive slalom win. Last week, she won her first ever slalom in Germany.
Therese Borssen of Sweden and first-run leader Sarka Zahrobska of the Czech Republic shared third, 0.23 behind.
Maria Riesch of Germany, who has already clinched the World Cup slalom title, was 0.37 behind in fifth place.
American Lindsey Vonn’s win streak at Are finally ended when she finished out of the points in 18th. She won the downhill and super-G on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
Vonn has already clinched her second overall title, a U.S. women’s record. She leads Reisch 1,788 points to 1,404 going in Saturday’s giant slalom, the final race of the season.
Reisch topped the final slalom standings with 670 points. Zahrobska moved to second with 459 and Vonn dropped to third with 440.
Riesch, the world champion, won four of the nine slaloms this season.
