#Blizzard2016: Giant storm has NBA, NHL, NFL on alert

The first major storm of 2016 is underway, and it’s going to be colossal.

“Winter Storm Jonas” is already dropping snow, sleet and ice on a handful of Southeastern United States, and, according to The Weather Network, could affect as many as 75 million people over the course of the weekend.

While the storm is likely to just miss Canada, the Northeastern U.S. won’t be as lucky, as major cities such as Washington, D.C., New York and Philadelphia have essentially started to shut down for the weekend. Some areas could see as much as 65 centimetres of snow.

With busy schedules in the NHL, NBA and NFL on deck for the weekend, there are bound to be some games affected by the storm.
