KINGSTON, Jamaica — Usain Bolt has withdrawn from a meet in his native Jamaica this weekend because of a hamstring injury.
The Olympic 100-meter and 200-meter champion says he strained a hamstring during training last week. Bolt said in a statement Wednesday that it was only a grade one strain and he hopes to recover soon.
He was scheduled to race Saturday at Jamaica’s National Stadium in Kingston. Jamaican teammates Yohan Blake and Asafa Powell withdrew earlier because of injuries.
U.S. sprinters Alyson Felix and Tyson Gay are still scheduled to compete.
