TRIESTE, Italy — Canada fell in straight sets to world No. 1 Brazil on Thursday at the women’s world volleyball championship.
Set scores were 25-14, 25-8 and 25-18 in favour of the Brazilians.
Jaqueline led Brazil with 16 points, while Sheilla added 12 and Fabiana contributed 11.
“Brazil is the toughest team here,” said Brittney Page of Kelowna, B.C., who led Canada with 10 points. “We still need to improve our passing. However, it is an excellent experience to play teams like Brazil.”
Canada has not won a set against Brazil in any major FIVB competition.
Canada’s next game is Saturday against eighth-ranked Serbia.
