BREMEN, Germany — Werder Bremen has appointed former player Tim Barten as team manager in the latest reshuffle of management since former sports director Klaus Allofs joined Bundesliga rival Wolfsburg.

Bremen says the 36-year-old Barten, who previously worked in the club’s marketing department, will handle organizational duties for the team, while working closely with sports director Thomas Eichin, scouring director Frank Baumann and coach Thomas Schaaf.

Eichin, Baumann and chairman Klaus Filbry were all appointed since Allofs left for Wolfsburg last November after 13 years at the club.

Barten says he is "happy about the trust which has been placed in me."

Bremen lies 12th in the Bundesliga.
