LONDON — Kell Brook has pulled out of his IBF welterweight title defence against Argentina’s Diego Chavez.

The British fighter picked up a rib injury in sparring on Thursday, ahead of the scheduled Oct. 24 fight.

Promoter Eddie Hearn says "it’s always a bitter blow when an injury causes a fight to be postponed, especially so close to the event."

Brook’s third title defence is expected to be rescheduled for later this year.
