CAGLIARI, Italy — Cagliari is set to play its forfeited game against Roma after a Sardinian court upheld its appeal Thursday against the postponement.
Roma was awarded a 3-0 walkover victory in September when the Serie A game was postponed for safety reasons after Cagliari defied orders to play in an empty stadium.
Cagliari will now have to wait for the outcome of its appeal to the Italian Olympic Committee, but club lawyer Mattia Grassani says "it’s a point in our favour."
Grassani says "now we will take our arguments to CONI’s high court and, in light of today’s decision, they have a great chance of being accepted."
