Canada advances to quarters at Atlanta Sevens

ATLANTA — Canada’s women’s sevens team has advanced to their 11th straight Cup quarter-finals after finishing in second place in Pool C at the Atlanta Sevens on Saturday.

Canada began the day with a 28-0 win over Brazil and a 31-14 victory against China before falling to England 26-10 in their final match.

Kayla Moleschi led the Canadian side against Brazil with two tries while Bianca Farella and Jen Kish each had one. Ghislaine Landry and Ashley Steacy had two conversions apiece.

Landry paced Canada against China with a try and three conversions. Two tries came from Karen Paquin as Farella and Natasha Watcham-Roy added the others.

Elissa Alarie and Mandy Marchak each had a try in the loss against England.

The Canadians will face France Sunday in the Cup quarter-finals.
