MONTREAL — Boxer Jean Pascal of Laval, Que., is poised to get a title shot if he defeats Argentine Roberto Bolonti this weekend at the Bell Centre.
Promoters Interbox and Main Events announced Tuesday that Pascal will face the reigning unified WBO, IBF and WBA light-heavyweight world champion Sergey (Krusher) Kovalev on March 14, providing he wins his bout on Saturday.
Kovalev will also need to get a special a exception from the IBF to postpone his mandatory title defence against Nadjib Mohammedi.
Pascal was a replacement for the injured Lucian Bute in the Bolonti fight.
Interbox also announced Tuesday that it has signed David Theroux of Sorel, Que., to a three-year deal. His first bout will be Saturday against Poland’s Maurycy Gojko.
