STORRS, Conn. — Former Connecticut basketball coach Jim Calhoun is being honoured by the program he led to three national championships.

UConn is hosting an event called “Heart Of A Champion: A Tribute To Jim Calhoun” at Gampel Pavilion on Sunday evening.

Former players, assistance coaches and current school officials including UConn President Susan Herbst will pay tribute to the 71-year-old Hall of Famer.

Tickets to the event cost $125, with proceeds benefiting the Pat and Jim Calhoun Cardiology Center at the UConn Health Center and the school’s basketball training centre, which is under construction next to the arena.

Calhoun retired a year ago with 873 wins and 380 losses after 40 seasons as a head coach, 26 of them at Connecticut.
