TORONTO — The schedule and locations for the men’s and women’s 2008-09 Capital One Grand Slam of Curling events were announced Thursday.
The curling series — eight men’s and women’s events — will begin with the Masters of Curling from Nov. 12-16 at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex in Waterloo, Ont.
The series’ second leg, The National, takes place from Dec. 3-7 at the ExpoCite in Quebec City, and Winnipeg will host the men’s third event, the BDO Classic Canadian Open, from Jan. 21-25 at the MTS Centre.
The women’s series kicks off at the Calgary Curling Club with the Trail Appliances Autumn Gold Curling Classic from Oct. 10-13.
The Fort Rouge Curling Club in Winnipeg hosts the series’ second event, the Casinos of Winnipeg, from Oct. 24-27, while the third leg, the Wayden Transportation Ladies Classic, will be held from Nov. 14-17 at the Abbotsford Curling Club in Abbotsford, B.C.
New Glasgow, N.S., will host the women’s fourth event, the Sobeys Slam, from Nov. 27-30 at John Brother MacDonald Stadium.
And the series concludes with the Players’ Championship at the Canada Games Arena in Grande Prairie, Alta., featuring both a men’s and women’s draw, which takes place from April 14-19.
The Classic Canadian Open event in Winnipeg will feature the debut of the Capital One Million Dollar Button, where one fan will win the chance to throw a rock to the button for $1 million.
