Georges St. Pierre received the results of the MRI on his injured groin and all signs point to a much earlier return than initially anticipated.

St. Pierre’s management team released a statement Saturday that said the MMA fighter will not need surgery to repair the injury he suffered during UFC 100 on July 11L:

"Evaluation of the results of an MRI indicate that no surgery will be required, and Georges should be back in the gym training within a few weeks after a brief rehabilitation."

St. Pierre also revealed the injury occured in the fourth round of his unanimous decision victory over Thiago Alves, not in the third round as he originally thought.
