Howard still tops despite loss to Harris

KITCHENER, Ont. — Defending world champion Glenn Howard remains atop the leaderboard entering playoffs despite losing 9-6 to Mike Harris in Draw 11 action Friday at the Ontario men’s curling championship.

Howard’s Coldwater rink go into Saturday’s playoff with a 9-1 record ahead Harris and Peter Corner, who are both deadlocked for second at 8-2.

Corner beat Bob Turcotte 7-4, while in Draw 10 action Harris topped Howard Rajala 11-6.

Wayne Middaugh, Rob Lobel and Wayne Tuck are in three-way tie for third at 5-5 after Middaugh won 7-5 over Daryl Shane (3-7), Lobel lost 9-4 to Rob Dickson, and Tuck defeated Rob Todd 10-5.

Rajala and Turcotte both sit at 4-6, while Todd and Dickson share last place at 2-8.

In other Draw 10 action, it was: Turcotte 8 Shane 7; Howard 10 Lobel 3; Tuck 7 Todd 3; and Dickson 7 Middaugh 6.
