Jeff Stoughton scored a deuce in the ninth to pull away with a 7-4 win against Sean Grassie and earn his 10th Safeway Championship on Sunday in Neepawa, Man.
Stoughton will represent Manitoba in the 2013 Tim Hortons Brier starting March 2 at Rexall Place in Edmonton.
In the all-Winnipeg final, Stoughton opened the scoring with a steal of two in the first and grabbed a single in the second to take an early 3-0 lead.
Grassie, who upset Stoughton in the Page 1 vs. 2 playoff, replied with two in the third.
Stoughton led 5-3 after the sixth but Grassie settled for a single in the eighth and closed within one again but couldn’t mount the comeback.
