Menard to take on McEwan in quarter-final

KINGSTON, Ont. — Jean-Michel Menard of Levis, Que., advanced to the $100,000 BDO Canadian Open quarter-finals with a 8-3 victory over Edmonton’s Kevin Koe on Saturday morning.

Both rinks finished the round robin with 3-2 records to force a tiebreaker.

Menard will now take on Winnipeg’s Mike McEwen later in a quarter-final Saturday.

Saturday’s other quarter-final matchups are: Winnipeg’s Jeff Stoughton versus Edmonton’s Kevin Martin; Brad Jacobs of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., versus Glen Howard of Coldwater, Ont.; and Rob Fowler of Brandon, Man., versus Sweden’s Niklas Edin.
