The UFC’s ownership could soon include a face familiar to fighting fans. Fake fighting fans, that is.
Shane McMahon, son of World Wrestling Entertainment owner Vince McMahon, is reportedly in a position to purchase a minority stake in the world’s biggest mixed martial arts organization.
McMahon, currently a WWE executive, announced last month he was resigning from his post effective Jan. 1, 2010. According to Heavy.com, he recently cashed out $50 million of his $80 million worth of WWE stock he owned.
McMahon, who has been credited with securing many of the WWE’s large international business deals, could be an asset in the UFC’s ongoing efforts to bring the promotion and sport worldwide.
White met with McMahon recently, but when asked about it at a UFC Fight Club question-and-answer last week in Las Vegas, White declined to provide any details on their meeting but simply called McMahon a friend. "You never know," he added, regarding the possibility of McMahon being involved with the UFC.
